Namaz-e-Janaza for Prof Hussain held at BAU

MYMENSINGH, Feb 5: The Namaz-e-Janaza for late Prof Dr Muhammed Hussain, Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), was held today on the university campus, report agencies.

The Janaza was held at 11 am at the open ground in front of Administrative Building of BAU. A large number of people from all walks of life, including teachers, students, officers and employees of BAU, attended the congregation and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Hussain was killed in a road accident on Friday morning at Madanpur under Narayanganj district on his way to Chittagong from Dhaka.

Earlier, the mourners from BAU campus and Mymensingh town assembled at the VC's residence to have a last glimpse of late Prof Hussain at 10 am when his mortal remain was brought there from Dhaka BIRDEM Hospital.

Besides, former Secretary Waliul Islam, DG National Museum Shamsuzzaman Khan, syndicate member agriculturist Abdul Mannan, Planning Commission member Dr Abdus Sattar Mandal attended the Janaza.

University source said Prof Hossain will be buried at his family graveyard in the village Mahmudabad under Sitakunda thana of Chittagong district after arrival of the youngest daughter of deceased who is now in the USA.

Condolences

Bangladesh Open University has condoled the tragic death of Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Agricultural University Prof Mohammad Hussain.

BOU Vice-Chancellor Prof Mohammad Aminul Islam in a condolence message on behalf of the university and his own expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members and prayed for salvation of the departed soul.

Vice-Chancellor of Islamic University (IU) Prof Mohammad Kaisuddin has expressed deep shock at the death Prof Mohammad Hussain.

In a condolence message, Prof Kaisuddin said the nation has lost a dedicated teacher, an experienced Vice-Chancellor and a patriotic intellectual at the untimely death of the BAU VC.

The Bangladesh Biochemical Society also paid glowing tributes to professor Mohammad Hossain.

In an emergency meeting held under the chairmanship of vice-president of Society Professor Harun K M Yusuf, the meeting condoled the death of Professor Hossain, describing him as a great scientist, scholar and dedicated social worker.

The University of Science and Technology, Chittagong, also condoled the death of the VC of the Agricultural University.

Bangladesh Chhatra League expressed profound shock at the death of Professor Hossain.
